Ugh! Sick!

I have my annual spring ear infection. Seems like I get one every spring and every fall. I'll blame allergies. Even with my allergy medicines, those times of the year aren't good for me.

I went to the doctor yesterday, so I've got antibiotics. Hope to be feeling better soon.

We made it!

Well, we've almost made it, anyway.

Barring some freak storm or local disaster, tomorrow will make only our second full week of school since before Christmas break!

I hope the snow is behind us. We've had snow in March plenty of times, but I have high hopes that we'll not have any more snow this season!

Old Favorites-Red Flag

Beth Hill's MySpace Blog ~*~The Blog at Beth’s Place~*~: "March 25, 2008 - Tuesday 7:29 PM

Red Flag

My weather channel icon is flashing at me, so I decide to check it out. It’s a red flag warning.
What?

I’ve heard about 'red flags' before, but I didn’t know there was a warning for them. Apparently that’s an increased fire danger warning. That seems totally strange since it’s been raining so much lately.

There a chance for '20 foot winds'. Ummm . . . what’s that? I thought wind was measured in miles per hours, not feet. Maybe when it comes in feet you have to have a red flag warning."

Old Favorites--Chad's a Goober

Beth Hill's MySpace Blog ~*~The Blog at Beth’s Place~*~: "March 30, 2008 - Sunday 8:10 AM
Chad’s a GOOBER!!!
I agreed to go to the Horsemen football game with Chad tonight because he wanted to go see a guy from Harrodsburg who’s playing with them. I hate football. I don’t understand it. I’ve also been to those games before, and Ryan Lemond is majorly annoying as the announcer.
Ah, well. I did get to shop a bit before we went.
Here’s the part where Chad’s a goober.
I’m sitting right up next to him with my arm around him because the girl next to me has trouble keeping her beer in her glass. She needed more room. Of course, they start the 'kiss cam' on the big screens . . . and I look up and there we are. I try to tell Goober . . . I mean Chad . . . that we’re on the big screen and to kiss me. He doesn’t get it and just about fights me off because he can’t figure out what I’m doing. I finally manage to kiss him on the cheek and the camera moves on. THEN he figured out what was going on. Oh, why didn’t you tell me, he says.
Goober."

Old Favorites--Cobra?

Beth Hill's MySpace Blog ~*~The Blog at Beth’s Place~*~: "April 16, 2008 - Wednesday 6:07 PM
Cobra?
OK . . . in addition to my other random 'old age' issues, I'll add CAN'T HEAR CRAP to the list.
Yesterday right after I got home from work, I get a phone call. The guy says he needs to speak to Beth Hill. OK . . . got that part. Then he says, 'Hello, Mrs. Hill. This is *insert mumbled name here* calling regarding the cobra you ordered from us.' Cobra? The HELL? I told him I didn't quite get what he said. He repeated, 'We're from cobras.com . . . about the cobra you purchased from our website over the weekend.' Apparently my silence was worrying him, because he added, ' . . . cobra . . . for a 1996 Monte Carlo?' OOOHHHHH!!
CAR BRA
I did laugh, but I didn't share why with the guy. I'd typed in a wrong letter on my email address, so their emails to me were bouncing. It's going to take 10 days longer than they estimated to make it, and they wanted to know if that was OK. I've got a spot on the bumper peeling--fiberglass--so I decided to disguise with a car bra.
Cobra.
Good Lord, I'm a moron."

Old Favorites

I'm going to transfer some of my "old favorite" blogs from my MySpace blog to here. Enjoy . . . or don't. I'm OK with it either way. I think I'll post them on their original posting dates, so if you're visiting, go back through the older posts, too.

Decorative Snow

We had some really nice snow today.

Yes, at this point in the school year I'm very much OVER snow days. But today's snow was a very pretty snow. We had bursts of huge, fluffy flakes that were pretty to watch. The best thing is that they were not sticking to anything! Constant snow with no accumulation. Wonderful!

Even the kids weren't freaked out. I only had one kid ask me if we were going home early, and he didn't ask with enthusiasm. Most of them are as sick of snow days as we are. Maybe ever more, since they're very social beings at their age.

Maybe we'll be able to go to school tomorrow. I'm tired or missing so many days. It's like the first day of school every day after a snow day.
